What is a blessing?
Do you have people in your life that love you? Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have a job or a place to go to school? Do you have food to eat today? Do people appreciate you and want to hear your thoughts? Count it a blessing.
How about this.. Do you have trials, that cause you to have to dig deep? Do you have people that hate you, so that you can choose to love them? Have you had to walk through pain, so that you could walk beside someone else in theirs? Have you experienced failure, so that you could be pointed down the right path? Have you felt the sting of prejudice, so that you could see the need for forgiveness and reconciliation in our world? If you have felt these things, count it a blessing.
As much as I wish that this world was perfect, I know that it never will be. In this life their will be pain and suffering, and I do not want us to feel forced to view it in some twisted positivity. But in pain and suffering, there is something beautiful called humanity. In this way, we come to recognize that we are not the “lone-rangers” that we often feel pressured to be.. we realize that we truly do need each other. Both in the joy and the pain, there is something waiting to be seen.
Can we recognize the blessing?
